Maui - from above

Our first full day on Maui we took a helicopter tour of the whole island, what a fun way to see the island.
One of the many waterfalls on east Maui, the rainfall here about 360 inches a year so there were a lot of waterfalls.

The north coast of east Maui.

The road Hana, we drove this road a few days later.

If I remember correctly, this is the last pineapple farm on Hawaii.

The north coastline of west Maui.

The mountains of west Maui, we flew up a couple of these canyons.

Kaanapali coast.

West Maui mountains.

Molokini Crater.

Makena Resort where we stayed, that's Molokini Crater just off the coast from where we stayed.

After flying over west Maui we stopped upcountry and had champagne before we toured east Maui. The goofy yellow packs we're wearing are flotation devices, just in case.

Chris ignoring all the scenery and texting his friends instead.

Most of the photos shot through the doors came out with reflections and weird colors because Yuri sitting in the front seat was wearing a wild colored Hawaiin shirt, instead of dark colors.

Maui - Makena Beach Resort

We spent 10 wonderful days in Maui last month. It took me a while to go through all the photos and try to figure out what to post and how to organize them, day by day or by subject. I decided to group them more of less by subject.
View of Makena Beach Resort from a way up the side of Haleakala. The resort is on the south shore of Maui, the last resort before you hit the state park with Big Beach.

The pool at night, it wasn't huge but the resort was pretty empty so it was nice not having to fight for chairs by the pool or on the beach.

The view from the balcony of our second room, they had to move us because they were updating the resort and we got awoken about 7am one morning with hammers pounding on the wall of the room next to us.

The view out of front door, looking up at Haleakala.

The view from our first room at the mountains on west Maui. We did see some really pretty sunsets from the balcony.

The resort from the ocean, coming back from a snorkel trip.

The middle of the resort was built around a really beautiful garden.

The view from our room looking east. Big beach is just on the other side of the hill.

More things in my yard

The last post was hummingbirds, today is various other creatures I've seen in the yard in the last month.

The shy rabbit hiding behind the pool fence.

One of the many many chipmunks.
We had two Robin nests this spring, one on the front of the house and one on the back. The Robin on the back of the house was so nervous she'd fly away anytime you open the door to the deck. If you were on the deck she'd sit on the railing or pool fence and stare at you until you went back inside.

Unlike almost every other animal in the world where the babies are cute, robins have some of the ugliest babies ever.

Ugly and loud, I think this one wants to be fed.

Unlike the nervous robin on the back of the house, the one on the front would just sit in her nest and let you walk right up to her.

Hummingbirds

I haven't posted in a couple of months. I have a ton of new photos but it's going to take me a while to post them all. We put up a hummingbird feeder and I've slowly been figuring out how to photograph them, they are so fast and elusive. Here are some of my first attempts.

Ducks

As we were closing up the house to head south for the winter 2 pairs of Mallard Ducks showed up on our pond. We have tons of geese most of ...
