Northern Michigan/Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

After a short 6 week break we headed back on the road. First stop was northern Michigan for dinner with my sister and her husband. Next stop was Mackinaw City before crossing into the upper peninsula.

Mackinaw City at the tip of the Michigan's lower peninsula. A great place for fudge. In the background is the Mackinaw Bridge which connect the lower and upper peninsulas.

Driving over the bridge. It's 5 miles and once a year on labor day you're allowed to walk the bridge from one side to the other.

First stop on the northern part of the upper peninsula, on Lake Superior was Pictured Rocks National Shoreline.

Pictured Rocks looking down the shoreline.

We had a day to kill so we took a nice drive through forests and along the shore. This is Miner's Castle. There is only so much you can see from the land so the next day we took a boat tour. The cliffs along the coast are filled with caves and arches, the water you see pouring out in the photo is coming out of a cave when waves hit the other side of the rock.

There are multiple ways to tour the coast by water.
