Waterford Hills part 2

Somehow during lunch I took a wrong turn and ended up on the track following the pace car.
They were supposed to be slow "parade" laps but after the first everyone was sliding around every corner and running flat out on the back straight.

I know, 80 mph on the back straight, driving with one hand and taking a self photo with the other hand was not real smart, but wow was it fun.
Working on my panning skills, it's hard to move exactly as fast as the car so it's in focus while everything else is blurry.

This guy was risking it all with a casual stroll across the track during a race. The corner workers didn't have a "turkey on the track" flag so they threw the yellow flag instead, and he took off before the cars got to this corner.

They were also having a car show the day I was there, lots of nice cars.

After lunch it was back to racing.

Notice this Neon going through the corner, his left rear tired is unweighted enough that it's off the track and stopped.

The joys of victory!

The agony of defeat, or at least a blown motor.

Waterford is family friendly, bring the kids and the dog.

Taking corner one a little wide, ok, maybe really wide.

Not sure why his lights are on, it was the middle of the day, probably not as aerodynamic either.

Waterford Hills part 1

A couple of weekends ago I spent the day at Waterford Hills raceway. We go usually once a summer or so, it's a fun day.

Before lunch I shot photos in the paddock area during the practice and qualifying.

3 minutes to go before practice starts for the first group.

I think this was tech inspection.

Rebuilding the car before the first practice.

Group 2 lining up practice.

I'm bored, when can we go back to the playground????

After practice discussion of what went right and wrong.

Last minute adjustments.

Checking if the pics turned out.

My next car?

Sunday Morning

The yard was full of critters this morning.

We had a very very young fawn stuck in the backyard. It was on one side of the fence and the doe was on the other side.

It may have only been a few days or hours old. It had a hard time even walking, there was no way it was jumping the fence like mom.

He/she wandered into the woods and we didn't see him or her again.

We have a lot of geese families but most have 6 or 7 goslings. This has 11, the most I've ever seen.

The turtles were out too.

Goslings usually march in line.

And swim in line.

Green

Over the last week we've had a lot of rain. One day coming home from lunch, just after it had stopped raining, everything was so green and lush that it felt like a tropical rain forest here.
