Rainbows

There was an amazing rainbow over our house tonight. It was so bright and went all the way to the ground at both ends and there was a 2nd rainbow, just a little bigger and much lighter, that was like a shadow.

Washington DC - Arlington

We spent the last day of the trip at Arlington, it was really hot. Since it was Memorial Day the president shows up at the tomb of the unknowns so the place was pretty locked down, the shuttles were only running for that so we had to walk everywhere, did I mention it was hot.

The view from JFK's grave site.

The view of the Lincoln Memorial looking across the river from Arlington.

It's impossible to walk around without being overwhelmed when you think about the amount of sacrifice each and every tombstone represents.

Tomb of the unknowns.

Washington DC - part 2

The Capitol Building, from the east side.

About 30 seconds after I took this a police officer stopped me to check for my tripod permit, who knew you needed a permit to use a tripod. We spent the next hour going through security and following an officer to the hidden police post several stories below the building to get a permit.

By the time we finished getting the permit, it was dark out.

A fountain just across the street from the National Botanical Gardens.

The side of the Capitol Building facing the national mall, they were setup for a Memorial Day convert.

As usual I found flowers to shot, these were at the National Botanical Gardens.
