Woodward Dream Cruise - part 1

Every summer in the metro Detroit area we have the coolest car cruise ever. Four lanes each way for 15 miles. Over a million people, 30,000 to 40,000 classic cars. It's amazing, it brings people from all over the country and you see some of every kind of car you can imagine. This is just a small sample of cars I like.

All of these photos are from the Friday night before the cruise. It started as a one day event, now it's officially more like a week long, but people cruise all summer now.

People here love muscle cars, there was just about every color and version of every muscle car you can imagine.

If you love vettes, every generation was there from the first to the new C7.

Not all the cars are old. Lots of exotic sports cars.

I would love to drive one of these.

You see a lot of odd stuff too. This is a 27 Studebaker hotrod with a Cat diesel engine.

The cruise is basically a moving car show. You can drive and look at other cars on the road, look at the hundreds of cars parked along the road, or sit in a lawn chair next to the road and watch the cars drive past.

I included this because it's identical to my first car from when I was 15. A 64 red Corvair convertible. It brings back memories, although I later repainted it yellow then sold it. I bought it back a year later for parts when the guy that had it totaled it.

Besides new cars and classic cars there are also some very old cars. There are also trucks and motorcycles and just about anything with wheels.

Yes, it's batman. The cruise brings out the crazies.
