Bar Harbor wildlife cruise

The last day we took a wildlife cruise from Bar Harbor. It was a really foggy day and all the whale cruises were canceled and they weren't sure of the wildlife cruise until the last minute. They did their best but it was foggy.

This doesn't really give you an idea how foggy it was since I adjusted the levels on the photo, I wish we could see this well.

This is a more accurate idea what the day was like. From the boat the conversation was something like "see that little black spot, I think that's a seal".
It was a little easier to see through the camera since I was using a 500mm lens.

It wasn't until I updated all the photos to my laptop and brightened them up did we realize there were a bunch of sea lions lying on the shore of the island.
On the trip back to the harbor the fog lifted enough we spotted a Bald Eagle on one of the islands.

One more point about Bar Harbor, the parking there is even worse than the national park.

Acadia at sunset

We got a timed ticket and drove up Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunset and of course it was somewhere between foggy and cloudy.

more Acadia National Park

The second day I took an Ebike tour of the park on the carriage roads. Of course it started in a slight drizzle which turned into a pouring rain and I got soaked, but still enjoyed it.

Near Jordan Pond. We tried to eat lunch there one day but the parking lot was full and the line at the restaurant was way out the door.

Lots of beautiful ponds inside the park.

One of the many beaver lodges I saw, however I never saw any beaver.
I will admit I got lost several times. It was hard to read the map in the pouring rain. At one point I reached a split in the trail. The left trail had a "No bikes beyond this point" sign so I went right. A few feet down that road it also had a "No bikes" sign so it was turn around and find where I missed the correct turn.

Acadia National Park

After a nice drive up the Maine coast we spent a couple of days at Acadia National Park.

First stop is usually getting a photo with the park sign.

The first day was mostly just driving around the park and taking photos. The scenery is amazing.

The biggest problem at Acadia and at maybe half the national parks we visited was too many people and not enough parking. Anywhere that was something cool to see or do, there was no place to park to see or do it. This was the road near Sand Beach, the backup started a mile before you got to the parking lot and the only parking left was along the road.

Thunder Hole. At the time and tide we were there it wasn't so much thunder. You also had to park a mile away on the road and walk back.

We didn't see much in the way of wildlife at Acadia, a few deer and some birds.

Random people posing for funny shots.
